• Turbocharged January 2023 Issue: #TwinTurbos

What better way to celebrate our second anniversary than a massive adventure across India?

Two years ago, our journey began with an appeal to enthusiasts and tugging at their heart strings with our stunning visuals and page layouts. Well 2023 is a historic moment for us as we at Turbocharged celebrate our second anniversary in our 25th issue and we’ve pushed the envelope to create our own piece of history. Here’s a little snippet of the juicy bits in our latest issue:

Epic Voyage

In our own Turbocharged way, headlining our anniversary issue is an epic adventure on two ‘K2K’ drives clocking over 15,000km collectively in the Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 and Taigun GT and Virtus 1.0 and Virtus GT from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh. Basically literally covering the four corners of India in the process.

Speedshifting

This month, the big news was Auto Expo 2023 where aside from checking out cool machines, we also got industry insights from two automotive bigwigs. In addition, Mercedes-Benz and BMW celebrated a successful sales year in India with a couple of manic hypercars being revealed overseas.

Features

Going across the four corners of India wasn’t the only thing we did this month as we also went on a 1,200km road trip to the world’s largest solar power park - in the MG ZS EV.  We also got a taste of a bunch of modded vehicles - like a Ford Fiesta that is a sleeper assassin and a Vijai Super scooter that looks retro but runs a Suzuki Access engine.

Reviews

This month, it's a diverse lineup of rides we’ve tested. They include the brawny Jeep Grand Cherokee making a comeback to India, the BYD Atto 3 attempting to make a mark in the EV space with its techy credentials as well as the Tata Tiago EV aiming to be the ideal electric daily driver. We also got behind the wheel of a Mahindra Thar that is more approachable thanks to RWD.

Take Two

Ducati India has had a busy month, revealing nine motorcycles coming this year and setting a new two-wheeled lap record at the BIC. Ola unlocks the MoveOS 3 while Ather counters the move with its Atherstack 5.0. The Ed got a first taste of the new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 while Halley turned the clock back 67 years to ride a special Super Meteor 650! We also found the original Super Meteor 700 in India and swung a leg over.

Motorsport

One of the toughest rallies on the planet, the Dakar Rally is back in 2023 and is as gruelling as ever. This month, we also bring you insights on the JK Tyre Orange Festival and catch up with Rayomand Banajee about Rayo Racing running the Volkswagen Polo Cup in India.

Tail Enders

Our vast lineup of long termers gets larger with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara joining our fleet while we say goodbye to the Royal Enfield Scram 411. Ben took a liking to the Skoda Slavia's dynamics while Jatin compared his second-generation Hyundai i20 to his long-term i20 N Line. Monish also had some fun in his daily commutes with the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.
