1. The Kia EV6 is one giant portable charger.
The EV6 gets a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. That is enough to charge your laptop for starters. Heavy appliances like a flat-screen television can also be charged and it does not stop at that. With 220V and 3.6kW of power, the Kia can run your home air conditioner or even a refrigerator for 24 hours.
2. You can charge another EV6 with another EV6. This feature allows you to charge another EV, how convenient does that sound?! You can also schedule its charging as per your need with the remote control function on your smartphone. That said, it does take an awfully long time to charge.
3. The batteries work efficiently even in the snow!
Cold weather slows down human metabolic functions and also has a malign influence on electric batteries. Kia has utilised an HVAC system that allows it to recapture heat waste from the motor and other electrical components to reduce winter range loss by 19 percent. In other words, the battery can still deliver 80 percent of its optimal efficiency in cold weather.
4. No gears but paddle shifters?
The paddle on the left-hand side does not downshift on gears like an IC engine-powered car but instead allows the magnetic forces inside the motor to apply resistance to the rotor. The paddle on the right-hand side adjusts the level of regenerative braking, in the sense that the highest setting which is ‘zero’, will allow the motor to have no amount of resistance.
5. It gets active aero!
The Kia EV6 has active air vents, the likes of which are seen in supercar territory. It boasts an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.28 and can also contest in towing competitions with a load pulling capacity of 907 kg!
Built on a pure electric platform (E-GMP) the EV6 boasts a lot of space. The boot has a voluminous 520 litres of space and gets a small storage space under the bonnet too! Front row seats come with the 'zero-gravity' adjustment mode with which the seat reclines using rear passenger legroom to the fullest and the seat’s base structure also tilts to a few degrees relieving the front seat occupants from any pressure points.
