It will come as SKD unit and will be locally manufactured at Toyota’s plant in Bengaluru
The Japanese carmaker has virtually revealed its lifestyle utility vehicle - the Hilux pickup. While vehicle will be launched in March, it can be booked now through Toyota’s online platform for Rs 50,000. The flagship pickup is based on the same platform as the Innova and Fortuner and will also be locally assembled at Toyota Kirloskar in Bangalore. The Semi Knocked-Down unit will see as much as 30-percent localisation of parts.
The four-door crew cab body style pickup will be available in five shades and will sit on 18-inch alloy wheels. It features 700mm of water wading capacity. It will come equipped with features like: dual-zone climate control, leather seats, soft touch interior, parking sensors, an eight-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 4x4 Hilux will be available in two diesel powertrain variants: The top-spec 2.8-litre, turbocharged diesel unit with an automatic transmission that produces 204PS and 500Nm and the standard 2.8-litre, turbocharged diesel powertrain with six-speed manual gearbox that puts out 204PS and 420Nm. The 4X4 driving experience is enhanced by features like drive modes (Power and Eco), electronic locking and limited-slip differential, traction control and tyre angle monitor.
Toyota said that December 2021 was a good year with the highest customer order. They have 424 outlets pan India and are in plans of expansion in Tier-2 and Tier-3. The other lifestyle pickup in this segment is the Isuzu V-Cross.
