• All-new Mahindra Scorpio-N launched at Rs 11.99 lakh

It is available in five trims with both diesel and petrol engines

Mahindra teased its new-gen three-row SUV, Scorpio-N sometimes back and now it’s here on the flesh. Bookings will commence on July 30 with test drives starting from July 05. The SUV will make space for seating seven and will be manufactured at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune. It is available in seven colour options: Deep Forest, Napoli Black, Everest White, Red Rage, Dazzling Silver, Royal Gold and Grand Canyon.

Z2 (petrol): Rs 11.99 lakh

Z2(diesel): Rs 12.49 lakh

Z4 (petrol): Rs 13.49 lakh

Z4 (diesel): Rs 13.99 lakh 

Z6: Rs 14.99 lakh

Z8: Rs 17.49 lakh

Z8L: Rs 19.49 lakh

This price is applicable for only the first 25,000 units and the prices for automatic and 4x4 variants will be announced on July 21.

The Scorpio-N gets a C-shaped LED DRLs around the fog lamps, a new radiator grille, chrome strips on the front grille and C-pillar, new LED headlamps, new vertical tail lamps, huge wheel-arches and diamond-cut alloys that ranges from 17 to 18-inch. The new Scorpio-N gets Penta link suspension with Watt's linkage for better handling.

It gets a dual-tone interior which looks quite premium. The three-point steering wheel gets controls on it and the instrument control is a 7-inch colour display with clocks on both ends.

The infotainment screen is an 8-inch touch-enabled unit with AdrenoX Connect technology that is Amazon Alexa voice control enabled and offers over 70 connected car features. The AC vents are vertically mounted and the basic controls look lavish with dials getting chrome surround.

The second row gets captain seats adding to the comfort for the rear passengers, though the third row looks rather confined, we will know that once we have a closer look.

Features include a semi-digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, leatherette upholstery, head-up display, electronic ORVMs, 12 speakers sound system from Sony, dual-zone climate control, powered seats, wireless charging. Safety features include ABS, six airbags, cruise control, hill hold and descent control, drowsiness detection, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamic Control and front and rear camera with parking assist.

The Scorpio-N is powered by a petrol engine that offers 203PS and 380Nm and a diesel unit that ranges in power from 132PS to 175PS and 400Nm. Transmission options include six-speed manual and automatic transmissions and a 4x4 system as well. The 4x4 models also get drive modes that include Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert.

It will compete against the likes of Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector Plus.
